Stoney Creek
Jam-Along Backing Track
About This Song
Stoney Creek is an instrumental by Jesse McReynolds of Jim & Jesse. He based it on a tune he learned from his father. Jesse's crosspicked mandolin on the 1962 Jim & Jesse and the Virginia Boys recording is what first made the tune known, and it soon became a standard in bluegrass repertoires. The writing credit is often shared with his brother Jim.

The B part is the surprise. It leaves A for a temporary home on the flat 6 and moves between the flat 6 and the 4 minor, and only the 5 in its last bar leads back to A.
