About This Song
Clinch Mountain Backstep is a driving fiddle tune most associated with Ralph Stanley and his Clinch Mountain Boys. The "backstep" in the title refers to the syncopated, off-beat rhythm that gives the tune its distinctive bounce and makes it a favorite showcase piece for fiddlers.
